There is a workaround suggested in this issue thread. Any Spark job running for longer than the previously mentioned timeouts is not able to render its result because the connection closes before the job returns. This is also because of the idle timeout. If the Shiny viewer window disappears after idling for several minutes, it is due to the same timeout as the “gray out” scenario.
